back history loop induced by opening pdf in Firefox
HI. I'm using Firefox Browser 92.0 (64-bit). This version and previous ones that I have used were set to open pdf in Firefox (Applications, "Choose how Firefox handles the files you download from the web or the applications you use while browsing."). However, when I use a Private Window, the last couple of versions (9x.0 and maybe 89.0, I can't remember now) go to a history loop when I open a pdf and try go back repeatedly. An example. Let's say I visited page A.html, clicked on a link to page B.html and then clicked on a link to C.pdf. When I hit the Back button twice, instead of getting pages B.html and A.html in that order, I get this:
B.html C.pdf
and if I continue to press Back button I get into a loop
B.html C.pdf B.html C.pdf ...
This behaviour does not occur in ordinary window, just in Private Window.
Can you, please, help me? Thanks, Miško

Hmm, I don't know why private windows have this problem and regular windows do not. ??
The general method to bypass redirects and other problem entries in tab history is to right-click the Back button and choose an earlier entry directly. Does that work with this site?

Yes, it works, thanks, but that is not a real solution. This behaviour is clearly a bug, the problem is that it stays for several versions and when I updated Firefox to 92.0 I was hoping that lt would gone, but it didn't, so I reported it. Before I sent my post, I noticed that regular windows don't have this problem, which is strange. I was hoping that it could be fixed in settings, but now I can only report it as a bug. Thanks again
Is it a public site whose URL you can share? You can include that in the bug when you file:
I reported the bug
Hmm, I wasn't able to reproduce it using:
(1) Search Google for copyright office circulars
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=copyright+office+circulars
(2) Click the link at the top of the organic results (not the ad) to
https://www.copyright.gov/circs/
(3) Click the link labeled Copyright Basics
(4) An overlay appears in the page, click the blue button to open the PDF in the same tab
(5) Click back (works normally)
(6) Click back (works normally)
