Everytime I start firefox (windows 10) the privacy & security option to save passwords is not set. Therefore I have to reset when I start firefox in order for saved passwords to be auto filled in. What element of my profile do I need to change (and what to) in order to stop it doing this reset?

The phone number you saw or received earlier is a scam. Please do not attempt to call that number.

You can't have multiple Password Managers enabled at the same time, so if you have others like RoboForm or Trend Micro Password Manager then the builtin Firefox Lockwise Password Manager will be disabled.

Thanks I assumed that initial response was a scam. I do not have any other password manager active or installed.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs# each time Firefox starts. The user.js file will only be present if you or other software has created this file and normally won't be present.

You can check its content with a text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click). The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Thank you for the response. I did indeed have a user.js file, it's contents were setting persistent server sessions to a limit of 4. But, I did not create it so, I followed your advice and deleted from my profile. However, the problem persists. If you have any other thoughts I would be grateful to hear them. Thanks again.
