I have been searching for the fix by Googling it and seeing if anyone else has experienced this problem. My issue is that as soon as I open the application it opens for a few seconds then crashes. I have used the terminal approach and it says there is a segmentation fault which causes the program to fail. How do I fix this as this is the only web browser on the system?

Thank you

Sorry to hear about the crashes. Are you are getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter form? I don't know whether that is applicable to your build of Firefox.

If so, Firefox may have logged some data that would help track down the cause of the problem. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox crashes - asking for support" for steps to get those crash report IDs from the about:crashes page, and then post some of the recent ones here.

If not, only information from your system would be available.

Are you able to start Firefox in its Safe Mode? That temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features of Firefox that might make it more prone to crashing on some systems. Please see: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

Any less crashy?
