I do not want to use the "new tab". I use "Fast Dial" and I feel so comfortable.

The browser.newtab.url pref is no longer supported in Firefox (41+), so it is no longer possible to set the new tab page via this pref.

You can look at this extension to set the new tab page:

You can set the new tab URL via the Options/Preferences of the extension on the about:addons page.

You can look at this extension if you use the home page as the new tab page.

Classic Theme Restorer includes this feature as well. In current CTR versions (1.3.9+) you find "New tab page url" in the Tabs (1) section.

You can use pages like these:

  • the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
  • the default home page is about:home
  • for a blank page use about:blank
  • use the URL of a web page

See the about:about page for available about pages.

You would have to check the Fast Dial extension about how to set this as the new tab page.

"The browser.newtab.url pref is no longer supported in Firefox (41+)". But it continues to operate, even without the support. And it gave me the inconvenience. In the list of add-ons this add-on is not found (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6SJkSx6rT8EUWNLa2pYajJZMEE/view?usp=sharing). Because I deleted Mozilla (43), installed Mozilla (33) and turn on "Fast Dial". Also I had to disable the update Mozilla to prevent this in the future. This is not good, but I feel so comfortable. Thank you for trying to help me. Best regards.

Fast Dial might be coming with its own support for working as the new tab page without the need of using another extension. The browser.newtab.url pref definitely no longer has effect.

Note that the Kaspersky extensions are likely disabled because they are not signed.

Current Firefox releases require extensions to be signed to prevent abuse by malware. In Firefox 43 unsigned extensions will be disabled by default. You can set xpinstall.signatures.required to false to disable this security feature in Firefox 43. In release and beta builds of Firefox 44 and later you can no longer override this.
