I have done a lot of work to try to stablize Firefox. I removed all the plugins, resetting system defaults, and now run only two, the current Flash version (which is set to "Ask", so that I typically prevent any Flash from running, so Flash is NOT the problem), and AdBlock Plus (which seem to work quite well, and is a lifesaving excellent product that allows me to look at web pages again...) What is happening is in the last two weeks, Firefox has become goofy unstable *again*, crashing daily, sometimes several times per day, no specific trigger. Ugly situation. Running on a older Windows XP-SP3 box, which is heavily patched, and is *ROCK SOLID* for EVERY OTHER APPLICATION. The machine ONLY has problems with Firefox. I have countless other programs that ALL RUN COMPLETELY FINE, INCLUDING SEVERAL NETWORK ACCESS TOOLS, Graphics apps, Math and Database products, etc. Also, several progamming languages, and even a couple of development environments. ALL THIS OTHER STUFF WORKS FLAWLESSLY. Only Firefox blows up and dies, and EVERYTIME, REPORTS "THERE WAS A PROBLEM SUBMITTING YOUR REPORT", no matter what settings I have for reporting errors, so NO ERROR REPORTS are being sent on any of this stupidity.

So, this time, I captured the report. The reports used to alway be about "Plugin_container.exe" Not anymore. I removed all the plugins, and this error is no longer being reported.

What I am now getting is "Driver Mismatch", but I am unable to determine EXACTLY WHICH DRIVER is being reported as the problem. This should be fixable, but it seems to be a Firefox error, as no other software is reporting any driver problems, and I have inspected all drivers using Microsoft utilities, and everything is reporting as OK, working correctly. Also, I have downloaded and run the latest Microsoft Malware Inspection and Removal program, and have run a full scan of the system, and all reports as good. I run tight firewall, and there is no evidence of any problem anywhere on my system, OTHER THAN WITH THE FIREFOX, which is highly unstable.

I have included the resulting error report in this note: It follows. If anyone has some insight into this issue, please post or email your thoughts. I notice the version number of Firefox has increased, but I am deeply reluctant to download any new versions, as the instability seems to be increasing with each update I apply.

end of Error Report from Latest Firefox crash ----

Is the "DriverVersionMismatch" the reason for the crash? Or perhaps not, as it is not affecting anything in any other program. I was looking at a Barrons website, the URL of which is noted in the crash-log.

If I can resolve what is happening, I will post the information as a follow-up to this. - Russel.
