Why does "check your updates" page show add on that is not installed?
After arriving at the "check your updates" page via the add-ons manager it shows me that Adobe Shockwave Player is out of date and needs updated. I do not have the shockwave player installled on my computer. I even tried installing it, but the "check your updates" page still told me it was out of date. It shows flash is fine and up to date. I have never had Shockwave Player installed on this computer until I just now installed it trying to remove from the updates page. When I click on the "update now" button it just loops me back to the "check your updates page" over and over again. And, yes I do have firefox 40.0.3 installed. I have now uninstalled the Shockwave Player (cause who really needs it), but the "check your updates" page still tells me it is out of date and needs updated. How do I get that gone. I use the add-ons manager to keep my add-ons up to date all the time. I have never ever ever seen the Shockwave Player listed there, and as I said, Flash is completely up to date and the page says that it is.

Sorry, several users have reported a glitch where one of the Intel plugins (version 3.0.72.0) is misidentified as a Shockwave for Director plugin.
Could you check something for me: If you visit my plugin test page and scroll to the lower part of the page where the Mime Types are listed, can you find the mime type(s) associated with that particular plugin and copy/paste them back here? That might help explain some strange overlap with Shockwave.
This is due to the "Intel web components updater" Plugins you have installed on your system and for some reason the Plugin check page may see it as Shockwave (for director) Player (different from Flash Player).

Interestingly enough though these last 2 mime types are showing the exact same version number that the "check your updates" page is showing for the Shockwave Flash Player that I do NOT have installed:

There are only 2 other mime types listed that have the word "shockwave" in them and they both say "shockwave flash" and show the correct version number not the version number of the Adobe Shockwave Player that the "check your updates" page is giving me.
The Adobe Flash Player (sometimes still referred to as Shockwave Player in some places) and the Shockwave (for director) Player are two different Plugins.

The issue as pointed out is caused by the Intel Plugins you have installed on system. npIntelWebAPIIPT.dll and npIntelWebAPIUpdater.dll

I know that shockwave player and flash player are two separate issues. I have never had shockwave player installed. I was just trying to completely give you ANY detail you might need to explain this issue. Do you know if uninstalling those intel plugins will have any negative affect on my operating system? Or is it just best to ignore this issue and get on with my life?

Those are not even close to the Shockwave for Director mime type (application/x-director), so I can't explain the mismatch. Some kind of glitch in the site.
I have disabled both of those Intel add-ons and the Shockwave Player update no longer appears on the "updates checker page".
