Firefox is unable to download addons, and webpages are not loading correctly. Safe Mode, Clean Reinstalls do NOT help
So, basically I upgraded to windows 10. Everything works great, except firefox. When I first loaded Win10 I was unable to access firefox's settings at all. Homepage was giving an error message, all of firefox's support sites were giving error messages and I could not resolve this. I figured a simple reinstall would work. First time around I just installed over it. Voila settings and firefox pages works again but now I'm only getting half the page to load. I am also unable to install addons. I have since reinstalled firefox many times by removing the files in temp folders, app data, registry, you name it. If it's a firefox related file it's been removed following the support and other sites.
Nothing works... I am degraded to using Chrome, which as I recently found out doesn't even have flashgot...
Problem 1) Firefox webpages are loading incorrectly. Settings, support, addons, etc. Problem 2) I cannot install addons most likely due to problem 1.
PS. I have searched the site and went through all the uninstall safe mode tips but I can't seem to find anything relating to this issue. Thank you for all your help.

in case you're an avast user, please try to disable https scanning within avast:
- Open the Avast dashboard on the affected system.
- Select Settings from the left sidebar menu.
- Switch to Active Protection.
- Click on Customize next to Web Shield.
- Uncheck the "Enable HTTPS Scanning" option and click ok.

Images didn't label themselves very clearly so let me list themThmsbkr3
- 1 Firefox Welcome Screen
- 2 Firefox Webpage in Chrome to see the difference
- 3 Regular Firefox Webpage showing that it loads just about everything (It was really struggling to load the video ad)
- 4 That same webpage in Chrome showing that it loads everything just fine...
PPS... Please don't make me use Chrome!
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.
Thanks FredMcD

Sigh, this one is on me... Didn't even think to try to temporarily disable AV protection. Messed with the firewall a good bit but didn't touch Avast!. So, I have a couple of questions:
1) Is there a work-a-round to keep Avast https scanning while using firefox? Or would you recommend a better free AV to use? (Anything but AVG lost a bunch of save files on a computer when an AVG update bluescreened everything). Do I have to define each https.firefox manually?
2) Do you happen to know if this affects the avast! Internet Security Edition or whatever it's called?
3) Thank you for your time everyone, I'll twiddle with it and may come up with the answers myself but I'll be back to see if anyone else has said anything :)
hi, the core av engine is till running while you are using firefox anyway. in most cases these https scan features do more harm than good anyway (think it affects all versions of avast): http://www.scmagazineuk.com/updated-kaspersky-leaves-users-open-to-freak-attack/article/411470/
Yeah, I just like preventative measures before the virus actually gets downloaded is all. Anymore I'm really careful anyway though so I'm not worried. Thanks for your time!
