How to cure inaccessible 'about:accounts' in new FF on Win XP?

Clicking on 'Sign in to Sync' in Menu attempts to connect to 'about:accounts' and fails with a '500' error, as does trying to enter that url directly in the browser (just updated to the latest one). Disconnected this browser from the account and deleted the old account, which worked (two days ago) but now cannot get back to the setup screen to move to the new Sync version. Have two Win 7 machines that I updated to the new Sync without issue. Also went through the 'about:config' settings on this browser and reset all the entries containing 'sync'. Starting in Safe mode doesn't help. Been using the old version for 10 years, including the older add-on, but finally had to change because the old username wasn't an e-mail address and couldn't be used to access the new version. Can you do a flag reset to open it back up?

Any call to the 'accounts' url returns the same '500' error. Stack:

Reminder - login process worked fine until I deleted the old account. Thanks! Bill

You can check if DOM Storage is enabled.
