All of the sudden my firefox application on my pc's desktop will not open when clciked on. When I click on it it lights up like it's starting to open but then the light around the icon fades and nothing happens. Also, I don't have another Internet browser and I really don't know what to do.

Several things to try - Right click on Fx icon and select Open; hold down Shift Key as you click on Fx icon to open in Safe Mode; try opening via the Start Menu or All Programs lists. If this last one works create a new Fx icon on the Desktop or Task Bar[I have both].

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
