can I rename tabs
I would like to have 2 tabs to a similar website, say a bank, with 2 separate accounts say bank 1 and bank 2

The name of each tab is defined by the website owner. However, you can change it. The following website http://www.techbuzz.in/rename-your-firefox-tabs-and-google-chrome-tabs-title-in-one-click.php describes a method. The Firefox method it describes is now out of date, but the Google Chrome method it gives works in Firefox – right-click the link it gives and click Bookmark This Link. Fill in the form and click save, and you can access the the button at any time. (Images included.)
You cannot rename a tab unless you install an add-on that does this.
I suggest you try to use Firefox's Group feature. It allows you to create and rename a group container that can hold as many tabs as you want. It's perfect to sort many tabs into different topics.
In your case, I'd create a group called "Bank" and move the Bank 1 and Bank 2 tabs into it.
To create a group fast, simply press Ctrl+Shift+E and double-click in the empty space!.
Enjoy!

@Sirius I disagree. The bookmarklet method I gave works without an add-on, and I don't see how your method helps in this scenario, although it is an interesting trick that I'll try to remember.
I may not have been clear - I have 2 separate accounts at the same bank, and I want to use a different tab for each. I can rename them but this disappears when I close and reopen Firefox. Any suggestions?
That's difficult to set up yourself. Your only simple option would be to email your bank and suggest it as a feature. Otherwise, you'd have to program something yourself in Greasemonkey, which is hard work.
Hello jeremyhills, i think you can see the next articles, to open your accounts at the same bank in a different profile at the same time :
using the -no-remote command line you can switch to open another Firefox with its own profile and run multiple Firefox instances simultaneously.
thank you
I think this is getting beyond me! Thanks to everyone who made suggestions, but I will have to give up!
the only possibility i found, is using the AddOn mentioned above [1] -- which unfortunately doesn't work anymore. Haven't found another working solution so far.
Adding sites to bookmarks doesn't work for me neither, cause i used to rename tabs temporarily within a short session. Not useful to add all the urls to my bookmarks.
