While installing a PDF conversion program, start now/bing was installed, and after removal, instead of my home page, I have the Firefox start page even though mine is in the control panel.

You pretty much have it. Primopdf was the initial program, and zugoremovaltool was the remove tool. Prior to zugo, I had removed by add/remove in the control panel as well as going into program files and windows and deleting the programs. While trying to remove primopdf, I discovered it had its own uninstall program, which I ran. I restored my home page to the control panel only still to have start now/bing. I ran zugo and restored my home page to the control panel only to be stuck with the Firefox start page.
