I am trying to download a file and this has happened a few times now. Even though I've checked my Firewall and settings etc. I keep getting this message when I hit the link to download it begins to bring up the download window but quickly closes it and brings up this one instead:

"Your current security settings do not allow you to download files from this location."

I would greatly appreciate anyone's input. Thank you! :)

Could you describe the dialog window where you are seeing this message? Is it a Firefox window, or is the message from your Internet security software?

What is the location (URL) of the file you are trying to download to your computer? Do you have a link to one of the files that give you this error?

In "More system details" you say, I have already added the website address to my McAfee virus protection ad I've went through the setting I know how to on the tool bar for firefox but I'm obviously missing something. ...so, I'm wondering if the "security settings" mentioned in the error dialog are in your "McAfee Internet Security" settings. If McAfee is giving you this message you should contact McAfee Support.

Ok, I've included a pic of the message I'm getting. I do not believe the message is coming from McAfee. The URL that I'm trying to access and download is as follows:

http://www.speak-write.com/downloads/.../MuTater.application

I'm pretty sure that if this were a McAfee error, it would say McAfee at the top of the box but it doesn't. It's just a plain box. If you click on it, you can see a bigger version. Thank you! :)

That may be a Windows error message. Firefox can use Windows security policy settings when downloading files, resetting system internet security settings may help. For details of a couple of methods see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files#Reset_system_Internet_security_settings_-_Windows

Another possible cause is malware.
Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.
