I have seen multiple references to this problem but no clear solution. Should this file in the system32 folder be replaced? (saw a video saying this solved the problem) Is this a Firefox problem or a windows problem? (Windows support did not know exactly what to do) I have used Firefox forever and would like to keep doing so but there is a limit. Please provide some advice. I haven't had a Windows problem for so long I forgot that they happen.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022":

You may also have to install the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package. You need to reboot the computer.

Your suggestion is a much bigger deal than the solution I found. I simply downloaded a new version of the msvcp140.dll file and replaced the existing one. I didn't need to tinker with the whole visual studio package and risk screwing up windows. I copied and replaced the file, rebooted and Firefox restarted properly. For whatever reason I had to do some option resets and extension installs but otherwise this did it.
