How do I restore the TILES feature to New Tab?

Quite new to Firefox. Had the tiles feature before. Now I just get a completely blank page. I updated a program called Web Companion which changed my homepage for some reason. I think this was the cause. Now I can't get tiles back, or see any option in the settings to get it back.

The part of the help page which says "How do I turn the New Tab page off" may have been useful for me to turn it ON, however the blue gear icon they suggest I click on which allows the option 'Enhanced/Classic/Blank' DOES NOT EXIST!

I even tried to reinstall Firefox to restore to default settings. No good either.

No idea what is going on.

hi, please install the search reset addon - it should revert the new tab page in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

Why is the settings menu so badly designed that you can't just click a button to restore defaults, choose New Tab settings etc? It's disappointing for a browser which seems to pride itself on useability and customization to be so frustratingly opaque. Or maybe I'm just stupid?!
