I keep my spare PC the same as my primary. I had to do a LLF on the spare, and when I again tried to use the stub download for the Firefox 57.2 it keeps loading 58.0.1. I don't want that one. I want 57.2

From here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/57.0.2/

If you want USA English for 64-bit Windows, here's a direct link: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/57.0.2/win64/en-US/

The last update for 57.0 was actually 57.0.4 and not 57.0.2 (no such 57.2.0 version btw). https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/57.0.4/win32/en-US/ https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/57.0.4/win32/

The 57.0.3 was to fix a problem with crash reporter and 57.0.4 was for to address the Meltdown and Spectre timing attacks. So if you must use Firefox 57.0 make sure it is 57.0.4 and not 57.0.2

Hi!

There was no mistake in stating th version to be 57.2. That is exactly what is on the "About Firefox" in the browser. However, try as I might before here I could not find 57.2. No zeros, and just the one decimal before the 2. Even the stub down loader shows 57.2, but it doesn't work now without loading 58.0.1

I keep a spare PC as a fully redundant copy of my primary. This is why I need to have both the same, and with my primary showing 57.2, that is what I looked for. Now I will just change both to the 57.0.4 versions. I must keep the older versions in these Win 7 systems that run some of my old 16 bit, and 32 bit programs that just can't be replaced.

Having been in communications now over 60 years, I finally have decided that programmers are only interested in making things fancy without regard to anything else. They just think to make a name by the writing of programs to do something. The fact that all they really do is make them fancy to the eye, but ruin much of the utility of what went before with the same type programs doesn't enter into the mindset. Due to this I know many who have gone before that are turning in their graves like an airplane propeller.

Thanks for in input. Dave.

You could not find Firefox 57.2 simply because that version does not exist as a Release from Mozilla however 57.0.2 (fifty-seven point zero point two) does.

The second number is only used for the ESR version as for example the current ESR is based on Firefox 52 and it is currently at version 52.6.0esr with 52.9.0esr likely to be the last on July 3rd. The next major version ESR will be based on is Firefox 60.0

The Releases use the last number for when there is a chemspill update for security and or stability reasons as there was 57.0, 57.0.1, 57.0.2, 57.0.3, 57.0.4

This page shows the Releases Notes of all of the Releases: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

Maybe you had some special third-party build and not the version from the Mozilla server if you really had 57.2 version.

Hi! You may have answered the question of why I had 57.2 when others have said it doesn't exist. I think this may be it as I didn't load the PC with this as I had purchased it already installed. The person was using a Unix system on his other machine, but this one had Win 7 factory (Compaq). Maybe he was using it as it did really well, and so far the .0.2 version is not so grand. I am trying the .4 version now.

Thanks for the Info. Dave.
