I have just upgraded to Firefox 9 on Windows XP. When I right click above the Navigation box- I have ensured that Bookmarks Toolbar is checked. There's an empty space between the Navigation box and the Tabs. I could previously add some of my most visited sites in that empty space in the previous version by just dragging from the navigation box - and it would create a 1-click button and I had several of these. But I cannot seem to do that anymore in Version 9. I have trawled through other Help topics but haven't been able to solve this issue. Thanks in advance.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"
  • Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

Thank you so much, Cor-El. I have tried the 3rd option. I have added the Bookmarks icon from the Customize Toolbars list - it now appears just above the first tab on the left. But I still cannot add any one-click buttons by dragging the website icon from the Navigation box. The Bookmark Toolbar option has a tick beside it when I right click above Navigation.

Do you see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" on the Bookmarks Toolbar if the Customize window is open?

Hi Cor-El. Yes - the Bookmark Toolbar Items is visible on the top left of the screen - just below the navigation box.

Can you drag the website favicon from the location bar to the Bookmarks Toolbar folder in the Bookmarks sidebar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks; Ctrl+B)?

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.

Cor-El - No, not able to drage the Favicon (shows the circle with diagonal line through it whenever I try). The Menu Bar is fully visible. This is what I have been trying to do - I was able to in the previous version - it's only now that I have updated, this functionality seems to be lost to me.

Thanks.
