Thank you Swarnava but my operating system is android and does not open the .tar.bz2 files that come this way. Any other ideas ?

Thanks,

For Android there is the mobile Firefox. Not sure if it will work. (The .tar.bz2 are for Linux) http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/8.0/android/en-US/

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/8.0/releasenotes/ Firefox is available for Android 2.1 and higher.

Firefox requires 512 MB of RAM and around 17 MB of storage. However, Android 2.2 users can move Firefox and user data to the SD card using Android’s Settings app.

This release requires a device with an ARMv7 processor.

Hi James,

Thank you for your ideas. So far I have found that the Firefox download is not proceeding because it does not have a mobile registered under my user so I guess I will have to register my Acer netbook to get any further.

Not very optimistic but thanks again for your thoughts.

Richard

Thank you kbrosnan, I have downloaded this file successfully (which is a step forward !) There does not appear to be anything to read or activate this file in Acer's android set up so I may still be forced to give up on this one.

Thanks for the advice anyway.
