Is there an add-on that will validate email addresses?
I am now using TB ver. 60.00. I have used Thunderplunger to validate email addresses. This add on is no longer compatible with TB 60.0 and has been disabled by the program. File this under unintended consequences of automatic TB updates. Is there an alternative? I have searched the database, but, do not see any add ons that do this.
Thanks for any help on this topic.

I don't know about an alternative, but I can tell you the issues are probably fixable but sadly the author stated back in version 45 (two years ago) he was not interested in updating the add-on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1232521#c2

Thank you for taking the time to research and respond to my question. I do not have the programming expertise to meddle with this. So, I will just have to say farewell to a useful program and bury it in a shallow unmarked grave.
Indeed. This is the problem with addons which have "everything but the kitchen sink" and the author bails then you lose lots of functionality. vs. using multiple addons which each provide only one or two functions.
That said, many features of https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/thunderplunger/ - mostly address book issues - have alternatives thanks to addon authors and others who have added features version 60.
- "Copy Email Address From Address Book Card and Message Headers" s is partly or fully native in v60
- "Monitor Size of Email Folders" can be had using https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mail-summaries/
- "Clean Accounts" native in v60
Most of the other features of thunderplunger probably aren't of value to most users on a daily basis or of dubious value.
As far as address validation, I can see this being a great help in a business environment.
Exactly what address validation function/workflow/checks are you looking for??

I used it mostly to validate email addresses for my business in order to catch address errors in email addresses received verbally or which occur due to typos. I have caught a lot of minor but fatal addressing errors this way. This feature was helpful, but, I will learn to live without it. I do not even know what other features this ad on offered.
Assuming you have all these customer addresses in an address book, create a filter of "sender ... isnt' in my addressbook <abname>
and then pick some action like star or tag the message for follow up.
Please check https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/check-and-send/
It says it is valid for version 60
Did "check and send" help you??
