Hi all!!

I'm supposedly the website developer for this charity. I'm SO glad it's a voluntary job because I wouldn't pay me for not being able to wrap my head around this problem! But I can't so I'm hoping one of you guys can.

http://www.oakleaf-enterprise.org/get-in-touch/

That's the site. If I copy/paste that (I say 'I' just incase it works brilliantly for you experts, I'm NOT an expert, please be gentle with techie answers!) into Firefox, I get the following....

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.oakleaf-enterprise.org. Peer reports it experienced an internal error. Error code: SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

If I use Chrome or Opera it works like a dream. What's Firefox doing the other two aren't? Thing IS - this charity uses Firefox on everything so if I can't make the site load in Firefox they won't really use it and they'd have to pay someone to do it better - and they don't have any money!! So I'm I.T.!!

I'm working from a Windows XP SP3 computer - same O.S. as theirs, none of us can afford to upgrade all our software - and we use free Avast as firewall/virus stopper (if that has any bearing, no idea) I'm writing the site using HTML in Notepad and looking up most of the tags/programming instructions (if you call HTML a programming language.) I've got experience IN programming but using Visual Basic/Cobol, this is my first ever try at a website. I didn't use a Flash site because I know not all browsers like Flash.

Now it's seeming not all browsers like HTML either!!

I'm stumped.

Over to you guys. One BEEEG favour though - please don't contact the charity saying 'Chris can't do websites' or similar, I'm disabled too and I wanted them to see I COULD do something, not that it was something ELSE I COULDN'T do either. I know it SAYS 'please contact website owner' which is the Charity, but please don't till I've had another shot at this, using what you tell me!

Yours hopefully

Chris.

Hi, it is a typical error unfortunately. Will get back to that in after this as this is the trouble page, long URL: HTML ERRORS 32 + 25 warnings : https://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.oakleaf-enterprise.org%2Fget-in-touch%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

CSS ERRORS 45 : https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.oakleaf-enterprise.org%2Fget-in-touch%2F&profile=css3svg&usermedium=all&warning=1&vextwarning=&lang=en

So use W3C Validator and Jigsaw to check your code. They make the rules that all browsers adhere by. https://validator.w3.org/ https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

No with that all being said maybe try a Web Editor instead of Notepad : http://bluegriffon.org/

Now this was a error and a bug at 1 time but was fixed for your version. It maybe server sided and the SSL Certificate is wrong in some way. The other thing gathered that lot's of images can cause the issue when not HTTPS You maybe able to use this : https://letsencrypt.org/ as is a free HTTPS Certificate but need to have access to the server which you seem to have.

I also have to tell you that Firefox will no longer support XP at end of June.

Try fixing the errors and yup will not tell anyone.

Some one else may have some other ideas for you , or not.
