My account was deleted, but I have my recovery key, how can I recover my information?

Hi there, So my family computer was infected with a very persistent virus, and my mom wiped it without telling me, so I didn't have a chance to export my bookmarks. I installed the latest version of Mozilla on my new computer (Mozilla 35.0.5) and tried to set up sync with the login information I had written down from my other computer. It did not recognize my account information. Were old Sync accounts deleted from the system after Mozilla 29? I still have my recovery key, though it looks like that is no longer helpful. So I guess my questions would be:

1) Why was my old account deleted? 2) Can I use my recovery code in Mozilla 34.0.5 to get back my bookmarks? 3) Is there anything else I can do?

You would have to install an older Firefox 28 version if that data was saved using a Sync key. The current version use the password of the Firefox account to generate the Sync key to encrypt and decrypt your personal data and use other servers.

After you have retrieved your data then you can update to Firefox 34.0 (or 34.0.5).
