Common sites directly above open tabs is missing now, but were there yesterday morning. Why did they disappear?

Common websites I use used to be listed between the address line and the tabs. They were there in the morning, but when I was on Firefox in the afternoon (without restarting computer or closing Firefox) they were not there. They are still missing this morning when I turned on the computer and opened Firefox.

"most visited", common sites, directly above open tabs is missing

You are not showing your bookmarks toolbar, to correct...

  • View (menu) > Toolbars > (check) Bookmarks toolbar

That should correct the missing toolbar, but restart Firefox to make sure it's still there, if not, or if the above did not work, then then fix corrupt localstore.rdf http://kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf

As per the directions in the article take a picture of your toolbars before starting.
