Hi, Thunderbird is sending out my private info in its header information. I need to edit or delete this information because the info is listing my confidential work name and location. Not only is it revealing this confidential info, it will also incorrectly show that the email may have been sent during work hours even though the emails were sent during private hours or at my second job. this is an example of what is being sent that needs to be changed or blocked. I can not find an option any wear to change this. i put "x" in the area of the private info.

i know it is NOT my server, nor is it my email server setting either. Its thunderbird that somehow stamped the info into the program when it was installed.

Are you using a word processor to write email messages?

I have never seen Thunderbird generating that stuff. It's more like the author and editing tracking in Word.

What add-ons do you have?

Well, im not using a word processor, but i DO have word installed on the computer, and i have Thunderbird set up to compose emails in HTML format.

the only add ons i have are just the profile password program.

Here is the clincher, and i dont think it would matter, but im using thunderbird portable version. and this is what gets kind of interesting,. Thunderbird is installed on a usb drive. But when i take the drive and plug into another computer, the headers are still produced like i showed you. I installed thunderbird with my work laptop, ( that was the issue with the headers from work computer) . And it seems to keep those headers even though i use it on a different computer with NO MS word installed on it. i COULD start all over again and install on a different computer, but i havent found a way to export my "accounts". but i think it would probably export the same stamped heard info as well....

You may not be using a word processor to compose the email, but are you using an email template that may have been created by someone else and placed on your machine?

Here is some header data from a Word document. Look familiar?

OMG, I think your right. This does look almost identical.

That made me think, I DO have an html signature stamp on all my outgoing email with hyper links.... And, I made that signature file with MS Word.. From my office computer. Wow.. I'm going to turn that off or delete the signature and see if that does it. That is great. Thanks I'll let you know if that was it.!

If you know how to code HTML, you can use a simple text editor like Notepad to create your signature.

There are other editors, designed specifically for HTML creation that will not add massive amounts of unnecessary lines of code to your output, as do the powerful word processors.

Or, simply use Thunderbird's own HTML composer.

Here is a link for people who do not know how to code in HTML, but still wish to produce a fairly-stylish email signature.
