On many sites like Forbes and Accuweather, videos automatically start playing when I load the site. Not only is this annoying, the video also draws unnecessary bandwidth when I tether from my Verizon smartphone. Is there any way through Firefox to prevent autoplay of videos on websites? There used to be a plugin available, but no longer. http://just-ask-kim.com/stop-auto-play-videos-audios-firefox/

FlashBlock will stop the ones that use Flash... https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/flashblock/

Adblock Plus can also block some of them if you never want to see them again.

But you could also use this option from Firefox:

Type in the address bar:

about:config

Then search for:

plugins.click_to_play

Double click and it will be set to true.
