I keep getting a page which says "YOUR PC IS SLOW, CLICK HERE TO IMPROVE" everytime I open Firefox but I am using a Mac and I can't get rid of it

I need to stop unwanted po-ups for services I don't want - especially annoying because the main irritant is for PC users and I am on a Mac. Is Firefox finally becoming like all the other where you FORCE us to see ads and services we don't need? This all began after I downloaded the latest Firefox some time ago. Maybe I have inadvertently selected a setting which is causing the problem but there is no easy and obvious way of getting rid of it.

hello, this sounds like a problem caused by adware on your computer. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).
