Hello,

I have an issues deleting bookmarks. I discovered last night that I have over ten thousands bookmarks of two different URL's in two separate folders (have no explanation for what caused this). When I try to delete them all at the same time, a window pops up warning me of an unresponsive script, which causes Firefox to freeze (Script: resource:// gre/components/nsTaggingService.js:338).

The same problem happens on both PC and Mac.

I know that bookmarks live in "places.sqlite", and if I delete the file I will get rid of this problem, but I'll also get rid of all of my bookmarks. Is there a solution to this? Is it possible to open this "places.sqlite" file somehow and delete these bookmarks from within this file? Any idea what's causing this script to stop working?

Thanks for your help.

You can try a database check:

cor-el, the same thing occurs when I run CheckPlaces. The window pops up with the same message, then FFox freezes and I have to shut it down.

cor-el, got it all worked out. Steps I took:

- installed xmarks; - uploaded everything to server; - run de-duplicator online which got rid of all duplicates; - deleted "places.sqlite" file and bookmarks backups; - synced all bookmarks with the fresh data from the server.

I repeated the same steps for both Chrome and Firefox and it's all working fine now. Thanks for your help!
