FF v 3.5.6 bundled with SimplyMepis 8.0 Need to update FF Under Help on main toolbar there is NO "Update Firefox" under Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Update there is NO option to update firefox

Also, since I'm here, on many images from around the web colors are missing making the images appear very dark.

Any help will be appreciated!

If you had installed Firefox yourself using an official version you downloaded from a Mozilla download mirror, the Help > Check for Updates menu item would be enabled and you would be able to get updates directly from Mozilla.

Linux distros that bundle Firefox usually handle Firefox updates through their own program repository. The Help > Check for Updates menu item is disabled and remains greyed-out, it's not hidden or removed from the interface.

You should visit the Mepis support pages for details about manually updating Firefox because it sounds like automatic updates aren't enabled. I run Ubuntu 10.4 and it automatically checks for program updates once a day, updating Firefox as Ubuntu releases their Firefox updates.
