My bookmark menu moves too fast when I try to pick a submenu with my mouse.

When I am trying to surf to a website using my bookmark menu and navigating with my mouse, I click Bookmarks, then a main menu item, and then a submenu item. While moving my mouse from the main menu item to the submenu item, if I happen to stray off the main menu item briefly before I get to the submenu item, Firefox picks the wrong submenu item. I ran a utility program recently to "speedup" Firefox on the internet, but I did not want to speed up the menu operation. Please help me get the menu delay back.
