not switching to firefox when selecting a hyperlink from an email

When i select a hyperlink from an email it opens in firefox, but it does not switch to firefox. before when not only it opened in firefox but it switched to the tab in firefox when it was open. this happens with outlook and with the latest version of thunderbird. if i make the default browser edge it works with no problem. thanks for the help jorge
