I couldn't find a solution on this support forum and I apologise if the issue has been addressed before.

I seek to browse in complete privacy/incognito to avoid websites being able to detect my identity.

I use a VPN, my WIN10 location services are all set to OFF, Firefox cookies are not allowed for the relevant websites, I use Firefox private browsing, when I open the relevant websites I make sure that I don't have any other windows/tabs open, GPS is not installed on my laptop...

Yet, websites can still identify me!

Can you recommend a check list of settings to ensure that I don't get identified by websites?

Hi ascanio1: (1) Some sites use fingerprinting. I do not believe it is very common. (2) In order to stay logged into a site, you usually need to allow the site to set cookies. Allowing Firefox to accept and return cookies to a site allows the site to associate your requests together as a unique user session. You could consider that a kind of tracking.

So, what should I do?

Can you please set out the steps and tasks that I have to undertake to solve my problem?

On this thread I was offered links that recommend other browsers based on Chrome, TOR, etc. Perhaps I should try those?

If nobody can help me, perhaps, it is time to agree that Firefox cannot hide identities and I should move on.

Maybe you'll find something useful on one of these : https://www.computerworld.com/article/2488068/the-paranoid-s-survival-guide-part-1-how-to-protect-your-personal-data.html https://www.pcworld.com/article/2013534/how-and-why-to-surf-the-web-in-secret.html https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-browse-the-web-privately/ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1261039

Thank you. I really appreciate your help but the links are too long and complicated for me to understand.

In these past 2 weeks I have read with attention every link - thank you - but it did not solve the issue.

After two weeks of very thorogh and helpful support, dozens of solutions tried, dozens of setting modified, I was still unable to fix this problem.

I am closing this thread with this conclusion:

With Firefox, there is no way to hide one's identity on websites.
