My Mozilla is crashing multiple times every day. It doesn't matter if I have 1 tab or several open.

Hi rosemarybales,

Let me clarify this.

cor-el is suggesting to disable the pref in about:config. about:config is a built in page which you can access like you would do any regular website. Type about:config into the Address Bar and press Enter. The page will pop-up with a warning saying this will void your warranty. Check-mark the box (if it isn't checked) then click "I'll be careful, I promise!"

Once you reach that page, you can search for the pref cor-el mentioned using the search box on top. The pref is browser.taskbar.lists.enabled so type that into the search field. Once you do that, it'll come up, double click it so it turns bold and shows the value as False.

Restart Firefox. Does it work now?

The option philipp is suggesting is to create a new profile. Simple enough. 1. Open the profile manager (close Firefox first)

  • Hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press the R key while holding the Windows key and your Run commandbox will open.
  • Type (with Firefox closed) firefox.exe -p
  • The Profile Manager will open. Click Create New Profile and go through the prompts.
  • Once done, open Profile Manager again and start Firefox through the newly created profile.

Does that help?

James, Sorry for the inconvenience, but would you please continue this in your own thread.

That makes things much simpler for those trying to help you, and those asking their own questions..

Hi Phillip Any further ideas ?

I was guessing a clean install of Release as the next step as these are near enough startup crashes, but I understand James' latest reply to indicate that crashes have stopped but it is still very slow.

I note bug 1159973 is related, any hints as to what that is.

Cheers, John.
