Thunderbird repeatedly freezes (Ubuntu 22.04, TB version 102.2.2, x64) - JavaScript component does not have a method named: "getItems"' when calling method: [calICalendar::getItems]

more options

I'm running Thunderbird 102.2.2 in troubleshoot mode with all plugins off and in offline mode. The program freezes for a about 10 secs about every 30 seconds.

It seems to happen regardless of what I am doing (writing a mail, opening folders, ...).

I started Thunderbird from the terminal to see there is some meaningful output, but I can't tell .... Here are some messages that might be relevant.

ATTENTION: default value of option mesa_glthread overridden by environment.

Nobody? Strange that I am the only person having this problem.

Gotto use another tool then. :/

No, the freeze is happening on Windows also. They've pushed out several updates but it is still freezing a lot.

There must be people sabotaging the project. Who would release a software like that?

102.2.2 is quite old - 7 weeks. We are currently at 102.4.0.

According to one of the developers ... "The message should be resolved by bug 1791228 which was uplifted to 102.3. I don't think that caused freezing though."

Thanks Wayne. I'm using the official sources of my OS though.

Nevertheless, I installed the new version (102.3.3 (64-bit)) and the problem persists even though there are far less errors shown in the terminal.

Note that I'm using my old profile. I have about 6 e-mail-addresses and multiple calendars and local folders.... using a new profile isn't really an option.

I had deleted all custom settings. No change.

So I purged Thunderbird. Deleted all files including cache and settings, and reinstalled and created a new profile, and now the problem seems to be gone.

Very annoying though, since I lost a lot of time.
