Automatic reload of feeds doesn't work even after setting corresponding config value to 6 seconds

As far as I know FF refreshes every hour the feeds in a RSS directory. I went through the steps to set a custom value for browser.bookmarks.livemark_refresh_seconds (60 Seconds). But the feeds are not refreshed every minute. Even after starting FF the feed list has not been resfreshed even though I know that there are newer entries. What I'm missing to have my feeds refreshed automatically?
