When firefox crashes and I get the 'Oops there was a problem' when reloading and the ability to restore the pages and tabs I was last working on.

However I get two issues from time to time.

The first is that not all the windows get restored, they are listed in the list I get when I re-run firefox and get the 'Oops there was a problem page' but sometimes they don't load, so for example I may have 7 windows and only for 5 to restore. If I quit firefox and reload firefox then the missing windows seem to get deleted for good, so I found that pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL, loading task manager and then ending the Firefox task in the task manager and then reload firefox can sometimes help. However sometimes the windows do restore fine and sometimes they don't. Sometimes the same window fails to restore, sometimes it is another window that fails to restore, there does not seem to be any pattern.

If after ending the task and reloading firefox a few times, does not restore all the windows then I try to close tabs in the windows, the strange thing is that sometimes closing tabs in another window that did restore can get all the windows to restore but it can be a lottery when all the windows restore.

The second issue I have with restoring is that sometimes tabs in windows do not get restored and just change to new tabs, causing me to lose the tab completely. If I have say 8 tabs, then I might get the 5th to 8th tab to change to a new tab, losing the page and history in that tab. This morning I lost all tabs in a window, which was annoying, 20 tabs all of which came up 'New Tab'.

I am running Windows 8.1, have an i7 with 8gb RAM, running Firefox 45.0.2 but I have had this issue on another machine and it has been around since Firefox 28 or so..
