what carriers can you use on a ZTE open C Firefox phone in the us?
I have purchased a ZTE open c Firefox phone and want to know which carriers will work At the time I have Straight talk, and wondering also about net 10. or simple mobile. I am a no contract person now so can someone help?

That is correct.
If your carrier of choice does not have 3G coverage where you are situated, or if the carrier does not support the 3G frequencies mentioned above, you will be connected via the GSM (2G) network.
If, however, you are using a network that supports those frequencies mentioned above, and you are in an area with 3G coverage, then you will be connected via the HSDPA (3G) network.
I would also suggest that you contact the carrier network to confirm which radio frequencies are used, since they will be able to provide more accurate and up-to-date information. =)

not a reply but an addition.... needing to purchase simm ...what compatibilities?

The ZTE Open C is compatible with GSM/HSPA+ networks like AT&T and T-Mobile. I don't know any details about Straight Talk or Net 10, so I can't comment on those from personal experience.
These are the radio frequencies supported by the ZTE Open C:
- 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
- 3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100 - for Europe
- 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 - for Americas
I personally have T-mobile's $30 pre-paid plan which includes 100-minutes + unlimited Internet. You can find more details on this T-mobile Support Thread. I am in no way advocating for one service over another, just sharing what personally works for me. =)

Oh Thanks Ralph... but I am confused...about the 2 g network deal... Like ATT and TMobile have networks that I am sure are faster than 2g...does it just mean that it has to be at least 2g?

Thanks so much for the clarification Ralph. This story has a very happy ending... It was a fairly seamless transition... just had to plug in the apn and other data that ST had provided.... everything seems to work well. Thanks again
