Firefox Crashing randomly either when scrolling or not
I thought I fixed the problem I went to a new profile but took over Prefs.js and the fast dial folder so my fast dial stuff will still be intact. I installed Youtube HD which makes videos automatically hd so I dont have to select it and thats the only plugin i was running but I uninstalled it and it still crashes. Now my flash player hardware acceleration is disabled but I use 11.7 flash player due to the fact the new flash player 13 and 12 makes my youtube videos freeze up. 11.7 is the only one I found out of all of em that still works right for me. That may be what is causing the crashes. I dont know how to read crash ID's so I leave that up to yall I have two. I Just marked solved on a thread that i had going over the same issue. And for reference I do not have hardware acceleration enabled on firefox it makes the letters weird for some reason So I never use it. I have disabled flash and so far so good but only time will tell and a lot of the sites I go to use flash. I was scrolling my facebook news feed both times when this error happened. Here are the crash ID's

Try to create a new Boolean pref on the about:config page via the right-click context menu with the name layout.paint_rects_separately and set the value to true and leave hardware acceleration enabled.
See comment 414 in bug 812695:
That way you still have the benefit from hardware acceleration, but may not suffer from rendering issues.

I did everything you said and Hardware acceleration is still messing up. I have checked for graphics driver update but there isnt one. Not worried about that working. Just wanting to figure out the crashing. So far since Flash is disabled I have had no crashes knock on wood. I do not know how to read those crash reports I have looked on mozilla's site but still cant make them out. Is there something Im doing wrong? If I use anything newer than flash player 11 it freezes my youtube videos.
The crash is caused by an plugin... I think you have correctly surmised it is the flash plugin.
The type of issue you describe with video locking up may be related to Flash hardware acceleration per Disabled Hardware acceleration in Flash
That is disabled and has been for a while So i dont know what else I could possibly do. I can upgrade again but my youtube freezes it causes my firefox cpu usage to spike
Is something else spiking on CPU at the same time? Such spikes can involve multiple programs. Once I had it with Thunderbird and Windows defender.
No nothing else is spiking. I upgraded flash to 13 and turned off hardware acceleration but it has crashed again on me. bp-47000897-9775-46ee-a9be-a8c832140427 4/27/2014 11:04 AM bp-372d3267-d6e6-4008-b429-9f1c62140427 4/27/2014 10:59 AM
Does it make a difference if you boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test?
Safe mode doesn't change anything either. Really dont understand this. I just wiped Firefox clean all the profiles and everything and reinstalled. I Put my laptop profile on my desktop which is similar I thought I had it fixed because my laptop firefox does not crash and it has tons of add ons even. I dont get what can be doing this. It has crashed again on me just when I thought I had it fixed.

I have stumbled across another bit of information. Avast Virus Scanner & Malwarebytes anti malware is picking up malware in my profile folder in the cache I do believe I was wondering if this could be the cause? But why isnt it acting up on my laptop? No crashes at all there. Its even crashing in safe mode on firefox no add ons or plugins enabled. Its mainly on facebook this happens but other sites as well. I dont get it Im fixing to get rid of firefox. Really dont want to start over because my fast dial will never look the same. This is so confusing.

Have you tried a new profile? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
That will I think go one step further than the reset Firefox offers internelly in that it will remember nothing of you and your settings.
ok I created the new profile I was able to bring over fast dial without getting the prefs.js file this time. I created new profile last time but brought over existing prefs.js file where the problem could have been. I will try this out today and update back. I am using the firefox 29 final now I just saw a crash before I created the new profile. I backed up the old just in case but shouldnt need it. I will probably delete the old profile completely out of the firefox app data roaming folder.
I created the new profile, Deleted the old only brought over bookmarks and its still crashing. I dont understand it. I cannot run hardware acceleration in firefox because of rendering problems and no new update for graphics card. Crashing hasnt been an issue until a week ago. I dont know what else to do. Its usually always on facebook that it happens on my news feed. Only addons I have is fast dial and status 4evar. But I have tried in safe mode before and it still crashed. Flash is up to date as well as java & silverlight. No malware on my computer I have scanned for that using malwarebytes avast free and combofix. bp-cb2952b6-128c-4bb1-96f5-606312140429 4/29/2014 5:25 PM
I think, by reinstalling completely will fix the problem. Reinstall firefox then delete the "Mozilla Firefox" folder. generally it is in C:\Program Files (x86) (Windows 7) C:\Program Files (Windows XP)
After restart your computer and install firefox again. I hope this solve your problem. Regards
