I had issues with my i Mac computer after trying to install Snow Leopard OS and backed up all my old hard drive data on an external hard drive before completing installation of the new operating system with the assistance of Apple Tech Support. You can get info from your old profile (bookmarks, passwords), just follow the instructions in the Recovering important data from an old profile article.
