It sounds like the Firefox master password is turned on. This keeps just anyone from using Firefox and your passwords. If you want to turn it off; Firefox options > Security > Use Master Password.

It is better to make use of a Master Password to security reasons and not disable this feature if this is about the Master Password.

The popup is caused by spyware or alien extensions on your browser. Here's a guide I found that helps remove the popup - Remove Authentication Required Popup in Firefox

The worst part is the popup appears continuously even after closing it several times.
