How do I stop Google rearing it's ugly head when I don't even have it installed on my computer?

I thought I had completely removed Google from my system but it still appears in Firefox. I am presently using Yahoo as my one and only search engine

Hi GerryLacey. You can change the search engines as you like. Check out this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Search%20bar?s=search&r=1&e=sph&as=s

You may also want to change the search engine used when searching from the Location/URL bar as Google is the default: See --> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Location_Bar_search See --> http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyword.URL and http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
