I obviously need to protect my bank account by any and all means possible. To protect myself even more, I was wondering if there was a security add on that can block drive by downloads.

Many malicious websites rely upon JavaScript. The NoScript add-on disable JavaScript by default, but allows you to let JavScript run on sites that you trust - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/noscript/

You should update Firefox to the latest version via "Help > Check for Updates" to get the latest security patches.
