Updating Firefox resets all settings, disables all plugins, turns off all add-ons, but does not erase favorites, history, or the existance of these plugins and such, but rather, it does not let them load.
This has happened several times, so I eventually disabled the "Update the Firefox" setting in my options.
Alas, Firefox weaseled around it and updated it on its own and against my will. Sick of it, I decided to let it work. As it ahd several times, the upgraded Firefox was reset to its original grey, themeless, no-frills, blank slate with all add-ons, plugins, toolbars, and features completely wiped.
I go into "Tools/Add-Ons" and everything that I have is there. All add-ons are accounted for, all plugins attended to, all themes instated, and all extensions set exactly as they were before the update. The only problem is that I can't get them back. They are all compatible with this edition of Firefox, but they won't come back.
This has been driving me crazy and has really made me frustrated.
I implore the community to assist me with this wretched error. Please help me fix the Firefox and allow for my customizations to return!

Furthermore, when I go into the Add-Ons feature and try to change the Options on any extension, the entire browser freezes and I must terminate it through "CTRL-ALT-DELETE".
Please help me!
Try resetting the Extension Manager. With Firefox closed, delete the following files in your Profile folder: extensions.cache extensions.ini extensions.rdf and compatibility.ini They'll be re-created when you open Firefox.
Making sure Firefox closed: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application Profile location: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder You may need to show hidden files to locate your profile (W2K & WinXP): http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/us.../hiddenfiles.mspx
Help!
That didn't work, either!!
Oh, hold it. I managed to get a few items, namely Lazarus , back online. My toolbars are still non-functional, though. The "OKAY" in Google's toolbar button does nothing when I close it. The only way to close that is by hitting the "X" in the top-right corner.
