My inbox is out of control. Incoming messages are counted and added to the title next to inbox. I need to delete many many messages- I delete many- mostly in groups. The number by inbox and the messages I tried to delete do not change. Then I empty the trash, and still nothing changes in the inbox slot. I'm above 600 messages and counting........, How can I remove messages that I no longer need? thanks, Carol Sibley

Select the messages you want to delete In the Thunderbird inbox, click on the first message you want to delete, then hold the Shift key and click on the last message in the group you wish to delete. This will select all messages in between.

I appreciate the response of AzZA, but I had already selected those groups of messages as they suggested. The messages do disappear from the inbox list, but the inbox tally remains the same. That is also true when I delete and then empty the trash. Either --the messages don't go the trash and/or --there is some less obvious place that also has to be emptied.

Any other ideas would be welcome. Carol Sibley
