Can’t reinstall Firefox

more options

I, foolishly, deleted a folder, in Windows 10, labeled Old Firefox Files. Now, I cannot reinstall a functional Firefox. Firefox will install but all I get is a empty browser window that will not link to anything. Is there any help or am I doomed to use Edge?

Sorry to hear about this problem. One reason for Firefox to be useless from the address bar down is a conflict with your security software. However, that usually causes a bunch of simultaneous reports so I'm not sure that is your situation.

The other common scenario is that a program installer and uninstaller removes certain shared Microsoft files, in particular the VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL file. To rule out that issue, you can (re)run Microsoft's installer for the VC Runtime files:

(A) Open https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-160#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022

(B) In the "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022" section of the article, download the installer for your system:

  • 64-bit Windows: the "X64" download
  • 32-bit Windows: the "X86" download

(C) Run that installer and restart Windows.

Any improvement?
