Hi, I am having a problem with Thunderbird and my new Alienware computer. I transferred my files from my old computer into Thunderbird and instantly I could not send emails. I have several different accounts and none of them can send, but they all can receive. I have shut norton off, firewall, antivirus, spam, with no difference. I have done everything suggested in the help section, but nothing has changed. Since I can still send and receive on my old computer, I don't think TB settings are an issue. I receive an error stating that the message could not be sent because of an unknown error. Further, I have uninstalled TB, removed fragments and reinstalled without transferring my data. Same thing happened with a clean install. I am running windows 10, use Norton latest version security suite. As said, my settings are exactly the same as my old computer and email works fine there. Any ideas? Hoping I don't have to switch to Outlook. Thanks in advance

Try to start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled. - Win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode. - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode

Does the problem go away?

Hope this helps someone out there. Being a geek, I tried everything out there and everyone wanted me to delete my accounts, start over, call my ISP, contact MS, stand on my head while I press send, you name it and even with a clean start up, nothing changes. Remember, this was a NEW computer. After hours of work, I finally had someone suggest to update my Killer network adapter drivers. I had already done that, but this time we uninstalled my driver for my network card and then reinstalled it from the company's site (not my computer's site. Rebooted it after installing new drivers and all of my email programs started sending. Keep in mind I never lost internet connection and could receive email, so my network drivers weren't my first place to go.

This is not a TB issue. This was an issue with my network driver. If you have the same problem, give that a try first. Good Luck!
