how do i change portable edition from read only

hi, firstly i have very little experience in computers, and am trying to get my old laptop running as good as i can, i am running on a microsoft windows xp professional, version 2002, service pack 3. when i start up firefox portable it gives me a warning saying i am on read only, do i want to transfer it over, but this could be seen by outsiders and i would be at risk. is it possible to fix this, or am i out of luck ?

I think this is something peculiar to the portable builds. Could you check their forums? Here's a site-targeted Google query to get you started:

Firefox Portable is a 3rd party build; not from Mozilla directly. Portable Apps has a support forum for Firefox Portable here: http://portableapps.com/forums/support/firefox_portable
