Graphical noise on some elements

For some reason, there are some elements, usually transparent backgrounds or images that change on-hover, that are being effected. They become monochromatic and have static or other noise on them, which can shift and flicker as I mouse onto them.

I tried refreshing Firefox, uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing works. When I go into Safe Mode, however, it's fixed.

So I've reinstalled Firefox without any addons, but the issue persists.

Is there any way to get a truly fresh version of Firefox, because whatever is causing the problem keeps getting loaded into the new versions of Firefox that I install, but Firefox in Safe Mode prevents whatever is interfering from effecting these elements.

Chosen solution

hello, that sure looks like an issue with hardware acceleration (which is off in safemode)- please try updating your graphics driver, or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

These files show the problem in the Addons section and on some of the buttons in the Developer Toolbar. The left is how it normally is. The right is in Safe Mode.

Thank you, Philipp.

It looks like somewhere along the way my AMD Radeon driver software stopped auto-updating. A quick driver update, reinstallation of Firefox, and it worked. All the strange glitches and errors in images seem to be gone.

I'll keep driver updates and the hardware acceleration in mind, if similar things ever happen.
