There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

This Connection is Untrusted is sometimes caused because the computer system clock is wrong. Check the time / date / time zone settings.
You can check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer.
You can check the connection settings.
- Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
See "Firefox connection settings":
Date and time fine ==
This is a Mac==No Avast of any other anti virus --no malware=(checked using ClamX scanner--
Safari fine--
Firefox worked fine for years-- have checked all preferences--using no Proxy setting--
Have trashed and reloaded and re-started multiple times
is there any other possible solution?
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
- click "Advanced" to expand the error message
- click "Add Exception" to open "Add Security Exception"
If this isn't possible then open "Add Security Exception" by pasting this URL in the location/address bar and paste the URL of the website (https://xxx.xxx) in it's location field.
- chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate -> "Get Certificate"
- click the "View" button and inspect the certificate
check who is the issuer of the certificate
You can see details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Delete tab.
Who is the issuer of the certificate?
Am able to open "Add Exception" There are several different headings of "certificates"==Your/People/Servers/Authorities/others"==
"Your Certificates" People" are Blank--"Servers--only one is "CNNIC"- If I choose "Exception" --get page to choose exception, but name of site has only " https://"
"Authorities"--only one is "AC Camerfirma S.A.--"--cannot delete or move or change--
You need to type or paste the URL in the location field in the Add Exceptions window and click the View button to inspect the certificate. To check the certificate for this website, type:
Click the "Get Certificate" button to make Firefox retrieve the certificate. Click the View button to open the certificate viewer.
When I put https://facebook.com into the location bar I get "Site attempts to identify with invalid information"
for "https://yahoo.com" get same
