Hello everyone, So today my father called me for help, as he couldn't start Firefox. After a while, it showed that Firefox has crashed and the previous session could not be recovered. So we restarted Firefox and found out, that all add-ons have been deleted, then Firefox seemed to function normally. I thought it's a misfortuned event and I left, since Firefox seemed to work normally after that.

Later that evening, I had a similar thing happen to me, I start Firefox and it opens with the default view (I use add-ons that alter that) with 11 tabs, one for the default page and on the others asking me, if I want to install a said add-on or remove it. (all 10 add-ons were the ones I installed way back and there were no additional/unknown add-ons)

So I wanted to ask, if someone could tell me what might have happened. I couldn't find any official news that something has gone wrong. Was it a coincidence that we both had a similar, if not the same strange problem? I use Firefox 40.0.3 and my father uses Firefox 41.0.2 (current version), we both use different computers and we both use different routers.

Thank you in advance!

BIG EDIT: So apparently there has been a big cyber attack world wide on the 18. October 2015, my father's other laptop (not the PC I mentioned) can't even load Windows anymore. I guess this is not a Firefox specific question anymore, thus this thread can be closed.

Do you still have the problem when you start Firefox again?

There are several possibilities, including corrupt files, mal-ware, anti-virus, disk cleaners . . . . . .

Hello, no, I don't have the problem again, I guess it was a one-time-thing, but as I said, I found it quite suspicious that it happened on 2 independent computers who use Internet from 2 different routers (same provider though) so thats why I asked. It's the same household, but my parents use together one, I use an independent one. I use Norton Antivirus, my father uses Avast.

I saw nothing in the news. Where did you hear this?

Although we live in Switzerland, we could read it in some Bulgarian site, that there was a big attack. (can't somehow find the link atm).

I checked his system restores and early in the morning, there was a restore point saying that it deleted a lot of things, good thing there was an earlier restore point, so everything is O.K. for now.
