All of my addon options dissapeared from my tools menu. Help menu item is no longer working either.

So, randomly, all of the addon options under the tools menu bar just vanished on me. I didn't even close FF down, it was just instantaneous. One sec I clicked on tools to do something, everything was fine. Then 2 minutes later I clicked on tools again and all my addon options were gone.

I tried to restore my profile with FEBE, but I can't find the option to restore because it's not in the tools menu anymore. Argh!

Also, I don't know if it's related, but my 'help' menu item won't work. I click on it and nothing happens. I tried a second ago to list the version of FF that I have...

I'm 99% sure I have the most current version. Sorry I can't be precise. I also tried disabling and then re-enabling all my addons.. and it didn't fix anything.

Does anyone have any advice?

Chosen solution

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.

If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.

If needed, you can create a new profile, then use Febe to restore.
