How do I make the command and Q letters on the keyboard Quit Firefox

How can I fix keyboard shortcuts that no longer work. Pressing Command and Q used to quite the application. The Tab key would move to the next field. Neither have worked for several updates.

I tried disabling all add-ons. The result was that Ctrl + Q worked the same way as Alt + F4 and clicking the X at the top right of the window, i.e. the application terminated without offering me the choice of saving the session. Fortunately, the session was somehow saved.

The problem arose for me when I updated to Firefox 38.
