I noticed a couple of days ago that when I type in text to the firefox address bar and hit enter it brings me to the first website. (Google is my default search engine) Firefox is using googles lucky button automatically and quite frankly, I want it to stop. I want to be taken to google.com and shown a list of websites based on what I typed in.

Do you have the extensions "Browse by Name" installed? If so, uninstall it to remove this behavior.

Hi brenlanders,

Can you check your Add-ons list, there might be an extension that i causing this. Otherwise open about:config page and pull up the entry name keyword.URL.You can modify that to change the search behavior of the address bar

I googled "google keyword.url" and found the original version used PRE-firefox 2.0. Apparently in 2.0 the keyword.url was changed to use googles "browse by name" which is in essence the exact same thing as "im feeling lucky." Thank you so much! Glad this nightmare is over.
